Ghaliya 2025

In the late 1980s there was a golden age for attars in the Middle East and specifically in Oman, there were certain blends made for the Royals of the Sultanate which were bold, new, and atypical. True they were based on the same ingredients mainly rose and oud combos but they always added new materials and tried innovative formulations. Our Ghaliya 2025 as well as some of our upcoming exclusive Series of 2025 Sonata Attars based specifically on resurrecting some of these timeless masterpieces with an Elixir touch.

This Ghaliya is all about bringing resins and rose together, the resin of choice not frankincense or labdanum, or any ambery resin, but a very special green smelling resin called Galbanum.

Galbanum was always used in green chypre compositions of muguet French style perfumes. Up until now it was rarely used in an oud rose combo as it is usually a feared material. But as we are always bold in our compositions, we decided to tweak the idea by creating what we could say is a galbanum-rich musk oud base on a bed of roses. Taif rose, Rose De Mai, Bulgarian white rose.

It’s all there, the perfect formula finisher was saffron and ambergris.

So here it is, our first Greenish Ghaliya.
